Senigallia. The post Flood
It is sunny in Senigallia today.
The kind that warms, because it helps the good mood, but most of all it dries, it dries, it brings you back to life.
Many people will know that a few days ago Senigallia experienced severe flooding.
A water bomb they call it, which the fault of so much rain falling in a few hours, inadequately cleaned riverbeds, construction that sometimes does not respect nature, clogged sewers and many other more or less predictable casualties, brought the city to its knees.
Senigallia, as in the marbles game of the 1980s, in which if you raised the table, you made the ball move, was filled with water by a raging river, which, after overflowing from the banks, crept into streets, roads, houses, following the slopes of the land. In 20 minutes a wave more than a meter high in several places.
It has been a few days.
Volunteers, friends and family, are still working to drain, dry, save, restore to normal.
Neikos and the people who work there have not been touched. Thank you for those who have been concerned about us.
But we cannot say that the same fortunate fate has befallen others.
Some people have lost “only” the superfluous or memories stored in the garage. Who the motorcycle, car or furniture of the house, old or new, located on the ground floor.
Who goods and equipment of the company, small store, showroom. And there is no insurance to help recover the damage suffered.
But the Marche people, by character, ask for little and get busy.
And in this muddy quagmire it is good to see the general mobilization of those who rushed from neighboring countries, in uniform or without.
It is comforting to see so many teenagers, backpack on their backs, smartphone in hand and muddy sneakers, walking through homes asking if they can help.
Because good does good and is contagious.
Because it could happen to anyone and having a hand, it helps and heartens.
As is often the case in times of distress, especially if water is the culprit, phone lines are down, electricity taken out, communications down.
Many communicated on Facebook, updating and being spokespersons and coordinators of aid requested by individuals or associations: relief teams, collecting clothes, shoes, consumer goods.
Also thanks to this strand, stimulated from below, a bank account was also opened to help flood-affected families who lost everything.
BONIFICO to the account in the name of FONDAZIONE CARITAS SENIGALLIA ONLUS, c/c IBAN IT41D0605521372000000021870 on Banca Marche sede Senigallia centro. Cause: flood emergency.
Thank you to everyone who would like to contribute.
For everyone else, remember Senigallia on your vacations, bridges, weekends. It isa beautiful city.
