From a study conducted at the Netcomm Forum 2017 of Milan since MM-One Group Study Center, which researches the dynamics of the digital market in Italy and around the world, it is found that a change is taking place in the world from the perspective of online shopping. The change will reach its peak of growth between 2017 and 2018.
The driving sectors of ecommerce
The following sectors are expected to hold the top spot in terms of revenue in 2018:
- E-Travel
Theworldwide revenue generated from online tourism(hotel accommodations, packages, vacation rentals, purchased tickets of transportation, and revenue from Travel Agencies and Tour Operators) will experience an increase of +13% from 2017 ($632 bn) to 2018 reaching $714 bn. The study also notes the increase in the number of global users to 1,371 million in 2018 from 1,237 in 2017 (up 11 percent). Asia, compared with North America and Europe, will be the country with the most users in 2017 in the e-travel sector. - Fashion
From 2017 to 2018, the growth rate is estimated to be +16 percent reaching US$455 billion. In 2017, the most frequent purchase will beclothing, weighing in North America (72 percent), Asia (67 percent) and Europe (64 percent). These rates are assumed to be stable in 2018 as well. - Furniture
In this sector(furniture and household goods), Asia occupies the top spot and generates the most revenue in 2016 (51 percent or US$ 59 bn).
The estimated growth between 2017 and 2018 is +15%, reaching $153 billion in sales.
Not to be underestimated is the growth of other sectors, such as:
- Smart Home, Home Automation, Security, Energy Management (+51% in 2017);
- Food & Beverage (+19% in 2017);
- Personal Care (+21% in 2017).
It is important for companies in one of these sectors to be able to seize this opportunity and reach a wide target audience.
