The integration of related, up-sell and cross-sell products in an ecommerce site
Integrating related, up-sell and cross-sell products into an ecommerce site is an excellent strategy for improving conversion rates.
Related or related products are all those items related to the product you are viewing.
In reference to a fashion-related ecommerce, if you look at a cotton pant, its correlates are: shoes, a matching bag, and a shirt or sweater.
The up-sells are equally visible in the tab of the product being viewed, but unlike the former, they are the ones that turn out to be more expensive.
For example, going back to cotton pants, up-sell products can be pants in a different fabric: cotton and linen, linen, etc.
The up-sells differ, therefore, by being in the same category but at a higher price.
Finally, cross-sell products are visible on the shopping cart page and offer the possibility for the customer to integrate additional items at the last moment and thus complete the purchasing process.
If we look at the cotton pants we proposed earlier, we can consider as cross-sell, products of any kind that under certain sales policies the company intends to sell. For example: a belt and any kind of accessory that can match the pants.
