Online food and wine guide
Vinit is the first online wine and food guide.
Thanks to the daily participation of thousands of users and a team of virtual editors, Vinit continues to be, since 1998, a dynamic portal of reference for the entire food and wine industry.
The guide, which grew out of a research project carried out at the University of Bologna in the days when Google did not yet exist and there was only Yahoo and Altavista on the Web, turned 10 years old in 2008.
The milestone is a big one, and Neikos Digital Agency, the site’s birthplace, wanted to celebrate it with an all-new portal.
Solution
The redesign started with revisiting the platform and then included the logo and the entire graphic layout.
A dutiful update, of course, but also a desire to thank the thousands of friends who over the years have frequented Vinit with thirsty curiosity, as well as all those who have enthusiastically participated in its growth into one of the most popular Internet addresses in the industry.
The structure of the food and wine portal
The portal is a vademecum for those who dabble, work or live in food and wine.
It features the magazine: with columns, news on regulations, events, typical products, wine and surroundings, in-depth articles on topics concerning Italian food and wine, such as culture and traditions, and taste itineraries.
Then the pairings: with 11 macrocategories and thousands of dishes to make the right choice at the table.
And thousands of useful links organized by labels (tags) and sorted by frequency using the tag cloud.
Among the innovations that accompanied the restyling is MyVinit, thanks to which, with a simple registration, wineries, sommeliers, wine shops and wine professionals or wine lovers can take advantage of a communication and work tool, on a portal with a profiled target.
With registration, a personal home page can be created.
Companies can enter:
- activity data;
- news and press releases;
- photo galleries;
- labels complete with images;
- organoleptic characteristics;
- Location of the vineyard on the interactive map.
Results achieved with the redesign of the platform
In 2008 alone, 1,700,000 visitors passed through Vinit, totaling 10,500,000 page views.
Today the Italian food and wine portal is a community inhabited by more than 14 thousand users who come together to share a common passion and who daily enrich the site’s wealth of information with articles, event reports, wine tastings and pairings.
