For the <strong>fashion industry, <\/strong>we are talking about exactly <strong>35 percent growth<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There is no doubt that in the field of fashion, <\/span><b>Italy remains a global excellence <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and the numbers bear this out.<br \/>\nIn 2015, the Bel Paese reached<\/span><b>52.4 billion in production<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, employing as many as 402,700 with a total of 47,079 companies and a trade balance of more than 8.5 billion.<br \/>\nExports, compared to previous years, grew by 2.1 percent to 29 million euros, with growth of 0.8 percent in 2016, showing that the <\/span><b>Made in Italy <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">continues to have strong appeal abroad. Italy is<\/span> <b> the world&#8217;s third-largest exporter<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in the textile-clothing sector.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Buying habits in the fashion industry<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For fashion buyers, both physical and online outlets play a crucial role.<br \/>\nWhile on the one hand <\/span><b>online sales have increased<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, at the same time there has been an increase in offline transactions understood as purchases made in stores.<br \/>\nIn the latter case, the digital world continues to play a key role, as offline purchases often occur as a result of information gathered online.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This phenomenon, called <\/span><b>reverse showrooming<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, occurs in Italy in 37 percent of cases according to a study conducted by <\/span> <a title=\"https:\/\/go.forrester.com\/\" href=\"https:\/\/go.forrester.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Forrester Research<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This tendency to inquire online but decide to make a purchase in the physical store has as main reasons:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Collect information about the product before purchase (54%);<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Have immediate access to the product produced after purchase (16 percent);<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Lack of confidence in online marketing (12%);<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> product availability (11%)<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><\/h4>\n<h4><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-4206 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/neikos.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/Moda-ed-e-commerce-Italia.png\" alt=\"Fashion and ecommerce in Italy\" width=\"799\" height=\"1299\"><\/h4>\n<h4><b>Why buy online<\/b><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There is, however, a clear trend, growing rapidly by the way, to make purchases online, so much so that <\/span><b>the e<\/b><b>commerce clothing in Italy<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> weighs in at 9% with <\/span><b>1.8 billion euros <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">spent by users.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The reasons why Italians buy online are varied, but among all of them surely affect:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the possibility of savings (52% of online purchases are made for discounted products or subject to special promotions);<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">access to a very wide range of products offered by e-commerce sites;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the shopping experience facilitated by the advice made available to users by e-commerce sites, such as the list of related products;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The ability to access feedback from other users.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Online purchases are made 67% of the time via desktop, while transactions made with <\/span><b>mobile devices<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> which reached a value of 33 percent in 2016.<br \/>\nThe protagonists are clearly <\/span><b>Smartphone <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and <\/span><b>Tablet<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, with a greater incidence of the former, through which 26 percent of purchases are made.<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><b>What Italians buy online<\/b><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Most of the fashion industry&#8217;s online purchases involve the<\/span><b>women&#8217;s clothing<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (50 percent), but also the<\/span><b>men&#8217;s clothing<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> recorded a high percentage (40 percent) and seems to be growing. The<\/span><b>children&#8217;s clothing<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> on the other hand, has a weight of 10 percent in the online Fashion market.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Also according to the findings of the research conducted by the eCommerce B2C Observatory Netcomm Politecnico di Milano, online purchases are divided by type, and in particular the following was found:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">46% mass market purchases;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">36% luxury purchases;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">18% purchases of sports clothing and accessories.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Among the main products purchased online are <\/span><b>items of clothing<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (shirts, dresses, jeans, pants) and <\/span><b>accessories <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(mainly shoes and bags or leather accessories).<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><b>Where Italian fashion companies sell<\/b><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In 2016, the value of <\/span><b>online purchases<\/b> <b>of the fashion industry<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> generated by Italian sites came close to <\/span><b>3 billion euros<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<br \/>\nConsumers tend to be of various nationalities with a particular incidence of domestic consumers. Also the <\/span><b>foreign market<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is beginning to have a bearing on the online sales of Italian fashion companies, in fact these have reached a value of 45 percent.
